History of North Star Lodge No. 167
The first meeting in connection with the formation and organization of North Star Lodge
was held in the North Surrey Horticultural Hall, Grosvenor Road, North Surrey BC on the evening of April 2nd, A.L. 5956.
It was unanimously decided, by the thirty-two brethren present, to form a new Lodge and to petition the Most Worshipful Grand Master for a Dispensation.
From this initial meeting much of the new lodge would be organized; the Officers were recommended or selected, practice schedules for degree work was drawn, the Canadian work was adopted, and the new Lodge was to be named Jordan Lodge.
At a subsequent meeting held in the same place on Monday, August 13th, A.L. 5956, it was decided on a suggestion by Most Worshipful Bro. J. H. Morgan, Grand Secretary, that the proposed name Jordan Lodge, be changed to North Star Lodge, to preserve as much as possible, the continuity of nomenclature, that name having become available through the surrender of the Charter of the original Lodge of that name at Fort Steele, BC and numbered No. 30 on the register of the Grand Lodge.
On December 11th, A.L. 5956, Most Worshipful Brother Donald A. Stewart, Grand Master, was pleased to issue a Dispensation. The Lodge was Instituted and presented with the Dispensation by Rt. Worshipful Brother J. H. Nordan, D.D.G.M., Tuesday, December 11th, A.L. 5956.
The Ceremony of Constitution and Consecration was conducted by Most Worshipful Brother Claude A. Green, Grand Master, and the Warrant was presented by Rt. Worshipful Brother Duncan McMillan, D.D.G.M. District No. 2, in the Freemasons Hall, Agnes Street, New Westminster, BC, Friday, August 9th, A.L. 5957.
On September 1, A.L. 6016, North Star Lodge No.167 consolidated with Dormer Lodge No.191 and continue the Great Work under the Charter of North Star Lodge.
